Genre: The genre of the magazine would be a trashy, glossy, celebrity gossip one. There are some true life stories as advertised on the front cover however, there is a lot more about celebrities, therefore it would be classed as a gossip column magazine.

Identity:

Ideology:

Industry: The actually industry that produced the magazine is the 'National Magazine Company'.

Mis-en-scène: Lots of pictures of the celebrities actually in the magazine i.e. Victoria Beckham. Along with captions to go with them as to why they are featured in the magazine. Bold lettering to catch the attention of walkers by in lots of different colours for differentiation. The caption "MUMS IN MELTDOWN" would especially appeal to mums looking at the magazine because it shows they have something in common with celebrities - them being mums.

Realism: There is a substantial amount of realism on the cover of this magazine. the first part of realism is the tag in the top corner saying "SHOCKING REAL LIFE". Not only does this appeal to the reader, it also makes the reader think it could happen to them. Another piece of realism is the advertisement for the diet plan in the bottom right corner. For those readers who want to lose weight it makes them think that the diet works due to the picture of before and after.

Representation: The way the magazine is representing celebrity mothers is very negative. The headline of the magazine "MUMS IN MELTDOWN" gives the impression that it is hard to juggle the celebrity lifestyle along with being a good mother.

Semiotics: There aren't many scientific signals on the magazine cover however there is a picture of Charlotte Church drinking a bottle of cider whilst walking down the street which gives the impression that she doesn't really care what people think of her and isn't bothered by the cameras infront of her.
